Label-free measurements

MicroScale Thermophoresis assays without modifying any interaction partner (label-free)

Due to tryptophan residues in their amino acid sequence, proteins can be intrinsically fluorescent. The  intrinsic fluorescence of the protein can be used to monitor the thermophoretic movement of the protein. In this way no interaction partner has to be modified and the MicroScale Thermophoresis assay is truely label-free.

To avoid background noise, it is important that only one binding partner is optically active.
